When most people hear of survival,they generally laugh and quiz you on how and why you need to learn survival.
I would like to present you with a thought that even you could end up being in a survival situation just going on a simple vacation.
Thats exactly right!
Lets take for example you decide to go on that vacation that you have gone on for several years to the Mountains,and you are crossing no mans lands and your car breaks down your in a remote location,,,alone & your on your on,you might just encounter that"Problem"we talked about earlier.
"THE AUTO SURVIVAL BAG"
I carry a bag in my Truck at all times that has my necessary equipment ,should I run into any difficulties on any road trips
In it I carry,wax sealed matches,knives,metal match,lensatic compass,#4~00 steel wool, small bag cotton,flashlight,extra battries,water purification tablets,fishing reel line 20#, couple folded up heavy duty trash can liners(For Rain wear in Rain storms)small roll of heavy grade plastic,dry socks(2 pair),long last candles,(burn all night),asprin,Di~gel for heartburn,THERMAL fold up blanket,(thin as foil,but warm as toast on cold nights)

Carry A Side Arm Of Quality
And last not least a good side arm.That caliber could be a good Ruger 357,its guarnteed that nothing worth his salt will mess with you.Loaded with 125 gr JHP.It might not be a bad idea to learn how to shoot it properly.
~BED ROLLS~
Before you throw down that bed roll remember the high country generally has mornings that have lots of dew.If you will run a piece of Rope between two trees and drape a long piece of plastic over,so that its A Shaped and stake each corner out, that will keep rain off and if you will throw down a roll of plastic underneath that bed roll,you won't wake up wet.If you dont have any trees make a small make~shift A framed cover to sleep under with small branches with a Y shaped end to put thru the gromets,in order to "CREATE an A shape effect.
~SNAKES~
If anyone tells you they do not have rattlers in there area,it might be because they do not know.You look at rattlesnakes in the book and Rattlesnakes are shown in a lot of areas,just because you have not seen one in 20 years does not mean they aren't there.
There might be a few areas with very few,but always watch for these snakes,anywhere you go.Remember be SAFE not sorry!! Also remember when he rattles,its just a simply warning for you to stay where you are.If you do so,you will more than likely be safe.Get an edgy one and be very careful.Watch him close,as you settle down,so will he,only to crawl off.
~WATER~
You can live a good long time without food,but you can't without water!! You should pee several times a day,if you aren't you are de~hydratingplain and simple.
Take those water purification tablets and ,follow instructions on bottle to add to your water amount as suggested by instructions and try to find a place where the water is the cleanest,by that I mean fastest running water,where there is good vegetation growing,better yet you can boil water for 15 ~30 minutes and be safe. Remember there are several kinds of bacteria growing in our water ways these days.So be very careful.You can carry 5 gal of water in back of car or truck,and add Water Purification tablets per directions per gallon.That will kill most bacteria.

~FIRE~
A Metal Match is a wonderful invention,in that you never have to worry about starting a fire.It works fast if you have dry tinder.They can be bought at Walmart or online! Tinder is small tiny branches or small pieces of wood to allow a very small fire to catch.
Once its caught you add gradually big and bigger wood till you have a good fire.Have all your wood organized before you do this so you can add what you need when you want it as you need bigger pieces of wood instead of running around gathering.
You can also collet lint our of your clothes dryer at home to add to your Truck Survival bag,which lights easy to start fires.You can also take a small branch and shave out little tiny slices of wood and leave all intact to the main branch making a FUZZ looking stick.This will catch fire quick . Never gather rocks from the edge of a river bed for a fire break or a fire ring or you will find they will explode because they absorb moisture & are very dangerously from the moisture that is inside the rock .Use only rocks from dry areas to form fire rings or breaks!More on fire on page #5
