Bears & Mountain Lions

While in remote areas always be aware that there are bears and mountain lions in most of the National forest.While most of the time you will probably be safe,there is a chance for encounters.

If the time of the year is spring,all cubs and kittens are born at that time so be cautious.

Never under any circumstance do I go to the forest without a rilfe in my pack.

Course I carry a hunting licenses for Big Game so that way at least if I am stopped,I have a Big Game licenses.I would a whole lot rather be safe than sorry.

If you get between cubs and mother bear,then you must first try and leave or get out of the direct danger!!

Mountain lions are on the increase in every state and there are humans attacked all the time!! A rifle and a licenses is mandatory!! Its better to have em and not need em, than to need em and not have em!!

IN CASE Of AN ENCOUNTER

Each encounter is different and has its own merits,for instance if you got between a mother bear and her cub,I would first tell you that you had better done as I said earlier & thats have that rifle handy,at least a 444 Mag,cause thats the bottom line.

Two your sitution there is very very critical and shooting a sow bear (with A cub or cubs) may be against the law,but I had rather go spend the $500 or whatever the fine as opposed to getting mauled by mother bear.

You absolutely have to understand when you are in the woods your in these animals territory and they live there and yes they are very very dangerous or can be if encountered.

Now a Mountain lion encounter is never expected.First and fore most they stalk their pray.So You better go back to what we said earlier and have that licenses and just be as close to the law as you can be.

It might be that by having the licenses might be the only reason the judge lets you go,unless he is an animal lover then your cooked!!


Sleeping Comfortable

Take and dig out a trench the length of you body or slightly longer.This trench needs to be at least 6~8 inches deep and lined with some plastic,then small pine tree boughs to fill it up.

Now you have yourself a very comfortable place to sleep at night.You will be suprised how well you will sleep.Build you a lean to made out of good solid dead limbs and cross hatch pine boughs over the trench and that will help keep the wet weather off you.
