In that survival bag we talked about on the first page, you can add a big folded piece of heavy plastic in addition to what you have.

Remember shelters are built with dead limbs and some plastic over the frame, will help shed the water .You might think carrying that much stuff is hog~wash, but you might not if something happened and it saved your life.

Think how stupid you would feel and would be,if you were told all this and never paid any attention to detail??

One of the many things you can carry in addition to all the other important things in your Auto survival kit is Large Caliber Rifle Ammo.Say 30~06 Reason is if you have any encounter with Bears, that caliber will be very good!

This will help start a fire. You can take your metal match, pull a bullet with a pair of pliers, then take and pour powder out of rifle case onto the #0000 steel wool with some small tinder stacked over the rest.

When you send that spark down into the powder and steel wool, your slow burning powder will help start our fire.Cotton balls will work in place of the steel wool.

~Soup Can Candle~

You know its nice to have extra light in your campground or in your tent.Well I have just the idea.Take several soup cans, wash them out.

Now take and lay a big piece of cardboard out and lay a can down on top of it.Mark with a pen the length of the can.Now cut about a 24 inch piece (or size to fit) strip of cardboard and roll it up tight to fit into the can. Before you roll it up to put in the can attach a candle wick to the very end of the cardboard. Now you will have a way to light it.

You want to fill up that can as tight as you can with rolled up cardboard. Now pour parafin over it and down into the cardboard. It will stay lit for hours. You can also use this to light campfires.Just be sure and take it out as soon as the campfire is lit,
